Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30. Be prepared with evacuation routes, supply checklists, shelter information, and emergency contacts.
Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, with peak activity in August and September. The City of Lake Worth Beach does not operate shelters during or after storms — residents should plan ahead using Palm Beach County resources for evacuation zones, shelter locations, and emergency supplies.
Hurricane Readiness Checklist
Take these steps before hurricane season to protect yourself and your family:
Find out what hazards are prone to your area using the Palm Beach County Zone Tools for storm surge information
Familiarize yourself with evacuation zones and locate evacuation shelters near your area
Determine where to get building supplies or groceries during a disaster
Make a Family Disaster Plan and practice it with all family members — visit Florida Disaster to learn more
Plan how to stay in touch with family and friends if everyday communication methods are unavailable
Pre-register for Special Needs and Pet-Friendly Shelters
The City of Lake Worth Beach does not operate any shelters during or after storms. Please use county facilities. Also note your evacuation zone and be ready if an evacuation order is given.
