In the City of Lake Worth Beach, we are actively working to improve the aesthetics and cleanliness of our community. As part of this effort, dumpsters are required to be in an enclosure. If you are required to build or replace an enclosure, we have a Dumpster Enclosure Requirements brochure available to assist you with the process.
Dumpster enclosure gates must be open to receive service and closed following service. Drivers do not open or close the gates.
Our drivers start at 5 A.M. and dumpsters must be accessible prior to that time.
If dumpster is not accessible when the truck arrives, service will not be provided. We may be able to return once access is provided at the request of the customer. Fees apply for the return trip.
Gates must have drop bars engaged so they do not damage the truck.
It is the responsibility of the customer to keep the enclosure clean and free of debris on the ground which may prevent us from providing service.
Ensure enclosure is not blocked on collection days.
Do not over-fill the dumpster as it will result in spillage and it may become too heavy to dump. It is the responsibility of the customer to clean up spilled material.
Dumpsters are for garbage ONLY. Do not put construction materials, wood, concrete or other large, heavy items into the dumpster that may damage our equipment. If these items are in the dumpster and cause damage to our truck, we will be requiring reimbursement for repair charges. If your business generates these materials, you will need to get a roll-off dumpster.
For some commercial properties, dumpster service may not work for the location due to lack of space or amount of waste a business generates. To accommodate these situations, the City provides 96 gallon cart service.
Cart Service Schedule

Carts are for garbage only and must weigh less than 50 lbs.

Place bagged material in the cart to prevent litter spillage.
Lids must be closed and the opening must face the street with wheels at the curb. Debris will fall from over-filled carts and cleanup will be the responsibility of the customer.
Place carts out for service in specified location the night prior to scheduled collection.
Carts should be placed at the curb with a 5 foot clear zone on all sides (away from parked cars, walls, mailboxes, fences, landscaping, etc.).
City code requires the carts be removed from the curb by 6 P.M. and stored out of view from any public road.
The City will not be responsible for cleanup due to improper disposal of liquids, over-filled carts, unbagged material, etc.

Parking Lot on the corner of N J Street and Lucerne Avenue (across from the Post Office)
Parking Lot behind 701 Lake Avenue (on South K Street)
Lake Worth Beach Library — 15 N M St
Gaslight Business District — 1937 10th Avenue N
Lake Worth Commerce Center — 1100 Barnett Drive
Cardboard must be clean, flat, and free of packing materials. Paper must be clean and loose, not in plastic bags.
Occasionally, your business may have bulk items, such as furniture, that need collected. The City can provide a special collection for the removal of these items. This service must be scheduled before items are placed curbside. Additional fees apply.
Businesses that generate items that are not allowed in dumpsters, such as wood, metal, marble, granite and concrete, are required to use a roll-off for the collection of these materials. The City has an exclusive agreement with Waste Management for this service. Service can be scheduled by calling 1-800-269-0073. Using any other provider will result in daily fines.
Mandatory Waste Services Monthly Fee
This is a monthly operational and administrative fee that covers costs such as equipment maintenance and replacement, fuel, administration of services, etc. The fee is applied to utility accounts based on information from the Property Appraiser's Office and is applied to all commercial, industrial and governmental parcels. The fee will be billed to the main property utility account whenever possible. No waste collection or disposal services are included in this fee.
Waste Removal Service Fees
In addition to the Mandatory Waste Services Monthly Fee, the City charges for the collection and disposal of solid waste. The fee charged is based on size of dumpster or number of carts and frequency of service.
Other fees include:
Return Trip
Extra Dump of Dumpster
Cardboard Recycling Dumpster Services
Lock Bar
Special Collection
Cart Replacement
Dumpster Rental
Fees are determined during the annual budget process and approved by the City Commission. All fees are charged on the monthly utility bill for the property and may change without notice.
If service needs have changed, it is the responsibility of the customer to contact the Solid Waste and Recycling Division to request such changes. If service is no longer required, such as when a business closes or relocates, the customer must contact the Solid Waste and Recycling Division to cancel service. Failure to do so will result in ongoing service fees.
On occasion, the City will have information we need to provide to our commercial customers. We will do this through the City's Code Red system. Automated calls will be sent to the phone number listed in the utility account. Recorded messages will advise customers of service interruptions and important collection guidelines. Be sure the phone number in your account is up-to-date by contacting the Utilities Customer Service at 561-533-7300.
There is no solid waste and recycling service on the following holidays:
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
If your service falls on one of these holidays, your service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day. Collections missed due to these holidays will not be rescheduled.
All other holidays have regular collection service.
What time of the day should I expect a pickup?
There is no set time of day for service and can vary from day to day. For carts, make sure they are out the night before. For dumpsters, make sure the enclosure is open and fully accessible by 5 A.M. on your scheduled service day.
Can I schedule a time of day for service?
No, there are too many variables that prevent this.
Do you provide service on the holidays?
Service is provided on every holiday EXCEPT Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. There are no makeup days for those holidays.
My dumpster was not serviced. How come?
There are several reasons this likely occurred: dumpster was blocked, enclosure wasn't open, dumpster was overfilled or contains unacceptable items. We have cameras on our trucks, so we may be able to see what the issue was. Fees apply if the driver is requested to return due to an error such as those listed.
